The California Air Resources Board is planning to revise the “Small Containers of Automotive Refrigerant” regulation (or Small Can Regulation) with special emphasis on the container deposit and recycling requirement. A workshop is going to be conducted to educate the public on the various changes that will come into effect.
The container deposit and recycling requirement was enacted to bring down refrigerant emission levels through the recycling of remains present in the used containers. If this is not carried out, the unused refrigerant in the can would gradually be released into the environment.
The workshop is being organized to enlighten the public on the amendment process and also, to gather input from people on the proposal to repeal the deposit and return program.
