Regulation & Dodd Frank Act

On August 22, 2012, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) approved a final rule “section 1502 of the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act” requiring certain issuers to publicly disclose their use of Conflict Minerals 3TG [tantalum, tin, tungsten and gold] and cobalt and if those minerals originated in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (“DRC”) or adjoining countries (“covered countries”).

This rule imposes reporting requirements on manufacturers if the products they manufacture or contract to manufacture contain minerals identified as “Conflict Minerals. Issuers will be required to provide annual disclosures on a new Form SD to be filed with the SEC. The filing deadline for annual disclosures is 31st May, for the previous year.
