The Perfluorinated carboxylic acids substances are added to  entry 68 of Annex XVII restriction list of REACH regulation by ECHA. More information on the addition of the substances in the Restriction list can be found below.

As per the source of information from ECHA, Companies cannot manufacture, use or place the PFCAs and their salts on the EU market, since they are toxic and very persistent, and very bioaccumulative (vPvB). Under this entry, perfluoro carboxylic acids (C9-C14 PFCAs), their salts, and C9-C14 PFCA-related substances are banned from commercial usage. The deadline provided by ECHA changes based on the application & usage.

25 February 2023: Shall not be manufactured or placed on the market as substances on their own

4 July 2023: Textiles or oil- and water-repellency for the protection of workers from dangerous liquids that comprise risks to their health and safety.

The below substances that fall under the PFCA category are alone excluded from the restriction:

● CnF2n+1-X, where X = F, Cl, or Br where n = 9, 10, 11, 12, 13 or 14, including any combinations thereof.

● CnF2n+1-C(= O)OX' where n> 13 and X'=any group, including salts
