Date of Publish: September 22, 2025
Upcoming Rollout: October 18–19, 2025
Release: IMDS 15.1 (Preliminary Information)

⚙️Functional Changes

1. EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) – Regulatory Information

• A new substance group and new regulation type for EUDR is introduced in the IMDS Regulation Wizard (Chemistry Manager).
• Works like existing regulations like REACH or Biocidal Products Regulation (BPR).
• For each EUDR substance in a released material, users must fill out:

o “100% synthetic” – Yes/No
o “100% natural constituents recycled” – Yes/No (only shown if the first answer is No).

• These fields ensure traceability of natural raw material origin and help companies comply with EU requirements.
• Important:

o Data entry is optional in Release 15.1.
o It becomes mandatory from Release 16.0.

2. EUDR Contact Person

• A new contact type has been introduced: the EUDR Contact.
• Purpose: provide a point of contact for inquiries related to deforestation compliance.
• Like the existing REACH Contact, it will not be linked directly to MDS data but will be searchable by other companies in IMDS.

3. Updated Regulation Contact Search

• The REACH Contact search is renamed “Regulation Contacts.”
• Search criteria are updated:

o Companies can search based on the regulation responsibility (e.g., REACH, EUDR).
o The option to search by name or free-text company search has been removed.

• Goal: prevent misuse of wildcard searches to harvest contact data.

4. Immediate Disclosure of Confidential Substances

• Substances newly added to GADSL (Global Automotive Declarable Substance List) or SVHC Candidate List will now be disclosed overnight (UTC).
• Previously, confidential references stayed hidden for 14 days before disclosure.
• The option to search for confidential declarable substances is also removed from Tree Search and Where-Used Analysis.

5. Improved “Expand Tree” Functionality

• Managing complex MDS trees is now easier:
• New expand options in tree navigation:

o Expand all (same as before)
o Expand only Components + Semi-components
o Expand only Components
o Expand top-level MDS
o Expand only own MDSs
o Expand by substance group filter (e.g., expand only materials containing GADSL substances).

• Tree Search enhancement:

o A new “Expand tree nodes” button highlights only the parts of the tree containing the searched term while collapsing everything else.

🔍Check Changes

1. Updated SC90 Checks for Metals

• SC90 material classification checks updated to reduce excessive warnings.
• Instead of requiring a minimum portion, now the highest portion substance or group must match the classification.
• Example:

o If a material is classified as Aluminum (2.1), then Aluminum must be the substance with the highest portion in that material.

• Updated classifications include Iron, Aluminum, Magnesium, Titanium, Copper, Zinc, Nickel, Lead, Platinum/Rhodium, and other special metals.

2. No Mandatory Check for EUDR in 15.1

• Unlike REACH and other regulations (mandatory since 15.0), EUDR data entry remains optional in Release 15.1.
• Companies can send or propose MDSs without filling in EUDR regulatory information.
• From Release 16.0, these checks will become mandatory.

🛠️IMDS Connect – Optional Temporary Change

• An optional flag can now be added in upload files to generate Reg-IDs and Production Site IDs in result files.
• This change is downwards compatible (those not using it won’t face issues).
• With the next major release, this will become mandatory and automatic.
