The Thai Industrial Standards Institute (TISI) has taken steps to support businesses in preparing for compliance with TISI Standard 3044-2563, which applies to large vehicles using spark-ignition (gasoline) engines. The standard, aligned with Euro 6 emission requirements, will enter into force on 1 January 2026.
TISI Hosts Industry Seminar Ahead of Enforcement
On 28 November 2025, Mr. Ekniti Ramyayanon, Secretary-General of TISI, assigned Mrs. Pongsiri Wannasri, Deputy Secretary-General, to preside over the opening ceremony of a seminar focused on preparing entrepreneurs for certification under the new standard.
The seminar was held at Meeting Room 200, TISI Building, with participation from more than 100 attendees, including TISI executives and representatives from the automotive industry.
Scope of TISI Standard 3044-2563
The seminar focused on the Thai Industrial Standard for Large Vehicles Using Spark-Ignition Engines, particularly covering:
- Vehicle safety requirements
- Engine pollutant emission controls
- Emission control Level 4
- Alignment with Euro 6 standards
TISI 3044-2563 aims to reduce exhaust emissions from large gasoline-powered vehicles and enhance overall safety performance.
Supporting Business Readiness and Compliance
The training session was designed to help entrepreneurs:
- Understand the technical and regulatory requirements of TISI 3044-2563
- Learn about relevant laws and certification procedures
- Prepare accurate and timely license applications
- Reduce approval delays through proper documentation
This initiative supports smoother implementation of the standard once it becomes mandatory.
Alignment with National Environmental and Industry Policy
The introduction of TISI 3044-2563 aligns with the Ministry of Industry’s long-term policy objectives, including:
- Addressing air pollution and environmental concerns
- Enhancing public safety standards
- Supporting the shift toward low-emission automotive technologies
- Aligning Thailand’s vehicle regulations with global automotive trends
Implications for Automotive Manufacturers and Importers
Manufacturers and importers of large gasoline-engine vehicles in Thailand should:
- Review product compliance against TISI 3044-2563 requirements
- Prepare documentation for TISI licensing applications
- Align production and import strategies with Euro 6-equivalent emission limits
- Monitor further guidance from TISI ahead of enforcement
Early preparation will be key to ensuring uninterrupted market access.
Implementation Timeline and Regulatory Outlook
With mandatory implementation starting on 1 January 2026, businesses are encouraged to continue monitoring TISI announcements and participate in future guidance activities. Additional technical or procedural updates may follow as Thailand strengthens its vehicle emissions and safety regulatory framework.
