IMDS Release 15.4 was scheduled for production on 16 September 2026. It introduces no new functions, but it adds lead threshold checks for two application codes, removes the EUDR step from the Regulation Wizard and renames the MCCP substance group.
What IMDS Release 15.4 Changes
According to the preliminary release information, the Model Office Next rollout was scheduled for 19 August 2026 and the production rollout for 16 September 2026. The release mainly removes or adjusts existing functionality rather than adding new features.
The EUDR functionality added to the Regulation Wizard in Release 15.1 is removed; the EUDR substance group stays and continues to be maintained. New checks stop two application codes from being selected when lead exceeds a set limit, and the MCCP substance group is renamed and trimmed.
What’s New
- AC 72 (2(c)(ii), recycled aluminium alloy) can only be selected if lead is 0.4% or less; AC 3 (alloying element in copper) only if lead is 4% or less. Modules above these limits show an error.
- A false warning for classification 7.2 (ceramics/glass) when copper is 48% or more is removed; the check had not been updated after copper was removed from the 7.2 composition check in Release 15.3.
- Validity dates are added to the descriptions of about 40 application codes, in line with ELV Annex II; the new wording applies automatically to existing AC IDs.
- The “Medium Chain Chlorinated Paraffins (MCCP)” substance group is renamed “Potentially MCCP containing substances”, and 45 substances that are always SVHC are removed from it. Their references switch back to SVHC and the related MCCP regulatory information is marked incomplete.
- The EUDR functionality is removed from the Regulation Wizard (added in Release 15.1); the EUDR substance group is retained.
Key Dates & Timeline
Who and What Is in Scope
Industries: Light duty vehicles · Heavy duty vehicles · Automotive components · Metals and alloys · Plastics and rubber
Who is affected: Suppliers submitting material data sheets in IMDS, particularly those using AC 72 or AC 3, referencing the MCCP substance group, or using the EUDR step in the Regulation Wizard; OEM material compliance teams reviewing submissions.
Products and standards in scope: Application codes 72 (recycled aluminium alloy, ELV Annex II 2(c)(ii)) and 3 (alloying element in copper); classification 7.2; the substance group “Potentially MCCP containing substances”; the Regulation Wizard.
Requirements and restrictions: Lead must be 0.4% or less to select AC 72 and 4% or less to select AC 3; modules exceeding these limits now show an error. No new legal obligation is created by the release.
What Companies Should Do
- Check material data sheets that use AC 72 or AC 3 against the new lead limits before resubmitting.
- Review data sheets that reference the MCCP substance group, because 45 substances now point back to SVHC and MCCP regulatory information is marked incomplete.
- Update internal EUDR processes that relied on the Regulation Wizard step.
- Review the release notes for the validity dates added to application code descriptions.
Release 15.4 tightens data quality checks rather than adding features. Lead thresholds on two application codes and the MCCP group change are the points most likely to affect existing submissions.
