Regulatory platforms have flagged several new substances as Substances of Very High Concern (SVHCs) in connection with Medium-chain chlorinated paraffins (MCCP), following an update to the Regulation Wizard and the 2025 GADSL Group 60.
These flagged substances may fall under the REACH Candidate List if their composition includes ≥80% linear chloroalkanes with C14–C17 chain lengths.

In Regulation Wizard tools, these substances can now be flagged based on MCCP composition.
Clarification on REACH Status
1. Candidate List Coverage
• The REACH Candidate List includes a broad entry for “Alkanes, C14–17, chloro (MCCP)”.
• This entry applies to substances with ≥80% linear chloroalkanes in the C14–C17 range.
2. Status of Newly Flagged Substances
• The CAS numbers listed are not individually listed on the Candidate List.
• However, if they contain MCCP-level concentrations, they fall under the MCCP classification and are subject to REACH obligations.
3. Authorization & Restriction
• MCCP is not yet on the REACH Authorization List (Annex XIV).
• No restrictions under Annex XVII currently apply, but MCCP remains under active regulatory review.
Implications for Businesses
• Substances not explicitly listed under REACH may still trigger SVHC obligations if they meet the MCCP definition.
• Companies should review material data to assess whether:
o The substance contains ≥80% linear C14–C17 chloroalkanes.
o It may require notification under REACH Article 33.
• Early assessment is crucial for regulatory preparedness.
Key Takeaways
• MCCP (C14–17 chloroalkanes) is an SVHC under REACH.
• New GADSL group 60 substances may overlap with MCCP based on composition.
• REACH compliance is triggered by chemical content, not just CAS number.
