IMDS – an ELV tool revised their databases on July 26 with some changes based on the feedback from IMDS Community, IMDS Steering committee which will reflect small changes in the current IMDS rules and behavior.

  1. Default value of application code will be blank.
  2. Error notifications when deleted substances are found in forward MDS are now converted to Warnings
  3. Error to Warning on ranges of recyclates.

The below press release from DXC.technology shows the details of these changes in IMDS.

  • Application Code defaults

If application codes have to be entered, the default is the one with the lowest threshold that is applicable. Since the application codes 1, 2 and 5 were decomposed on December 5th, 2018, there have been more than one applicable with the same threshold and the default was always the first of those. This led to incorrect entries. Therefore, the Steering Committee decided that in such cases the default value should be blank.

  • Convert Error to Warning on deleted substances in Forward MDSs

Deleted substances in referenced MDSs produce a Warning in IMDS and you can still use legacy data. Only if you have a forwarded MDS, this is not a Warning, but an Error. The IMDS Steering Committee decided, that this Error is changed into a Warning.

  • Convert Error to Warning on ranges of recyclates

Since IMDS Release 12.0 you can only enter a range of maximum 20% for recyclates, if you enter a higher range, you will get an Error. We have received a lot of feedback on this change. To relieve the situation, the IMDS Steering Committee decided to change this Error into a Warning.

  • Changes 1 and 2 released to IMDS on August 21st, 2019.
  • Change 3 will be released on September 25th, 2019.
