02-06-2021 – In addition, after the release of IMDS 13.0, Volkswagen AG and brands now will accept Material Data Sheet (MDS) with VDA classification 1.1, 1.2, 2.1, 2.2, and 5.4 only until 1st August 2021. After the mentioned date, all datasheets containing materials with the below generic VDA classifications will be rejected irrespective it is a new or a spare/legacy part.
1.1 Steels / cast steel / sintered steel
1.2 Cast iron
2.1 Aluminum and aluminum alloys
2.2 Magnesium and magnesium alloys
5.4 Duromers
Only public materials released by IMDS companies: IMDS-Committee (423); IMDS-Committee/ILI Metals (18986) and Stahl und Eisen Liste (313) are exempted from these new rejection criteria.
This change was made according to VW 91101 the selection of VDA classification, as each classification of materials above needs to be explained in as detail as possible in MDS. A full list of all available VDA classifications with explanations can be found in the document Annex I to the IMDS001 Recommendation.
