The IMDS team has published IMDS Newsletter 67, the latest edition of its news bulletin for suppliers and OEMs that exchange material data through IMDS.
What Is in IMDS Newsletter 67
Newsletter 67 follows the IMDS Release 15.4 rollout happened on 16 September 2026 and the GADSL update implemented in IMDS on 11 September 2026.
The issue covers five topics: a new version of the IMDS Automotive Manufacturers’ Position paper, the changes delivered with IMDS Release 15.4, the upcoming IMDS Release 16.0, new recycled content reporting in Release 16.0, and a Users’ Echo answer on how to calculate product carbon footprint (PCF) values.
What’s New
- On 24 July 2026, the IMDS Steering Committee and supplier associations published a new version of the IMDS Automotive Manufacturers’ Position paper.
- IMDS Release 15.4 removed the EUDR functionality from the Regulation Wizard. The EUDR substance group stays in IMDS and will continue to be maintained in line with legal requirements.
- Release 15.4 added Application Code threshold checks in line with ELV Annex II, added validity dates to the application code descriptions, and now allows classification 7.2 (ceramics / glass) for copper.
- The MCCP substance group has been renamed “Potentially MCCP containing substances”, and substances that are always SVHC have been removed from it.
- IMDS Release 16.0 will be tested on Model Office Next between Q4 2026 and Q1 2027 and is planned on the production server in Q1 2027.
- Release 16.0 lets companies update recyclate data and norms without creating a new material version, lets recipients mark accepted MDSs as obsolete, and makes all newly sent MDSs forwardable.
- Recycled content reporting becomes mandatory for steel, aluminium, magnesium, polymers, and battery and permanent magnet materials. Reporting is based on guaranteed minimum values and is done only at material level by the material creator.
- Recommendation IMDS 027 on Product Carbon Footprint was updated on 17 June 2026 with a link to an AIAG document on how to determine PCF values.
