In November 2020, ECHA released the announcement regarding Brexit i.e., withdrawal of the United Kingdom (UK) from the European Union (EU) which helps the UK companies to update their registration process. According to Brexit, the transition period will be ended on 31 December 2020. The current regulations in ECHA will apply to Northern Ireland and are restricted in the rest of the UK.

All EU companies must register their chemical substances on behalf of UK companies if they are having business with them after the transition period. EU companies have the additional responsibility that they should notify ECHA before import things from UK companies. This will be applicable even the UK company was already notified to ECHA portal for the same products.

This is the right time to act for the EU companies who are having business with UK people. ECHA revised their tools based on the Brexit regulations.

If implemented this will enable consumers to better understand how nanomaterials and nanotechnology are used in different products.
