Understanding the ACEA Regulatory List

The automotive industry operates within a complex regulatory framework, with numerous substances facing restrictions or bans. To aid supply chain stakeholders in navigating these regulations, the European Automobile Manufacturers Association (ACEA) has introduced the ACEA Regulatory List.

Key Differences from GADSL

Unlike the Global Automotive Declarable Substance List (GADSL), which focuses primarily on substances commonly found in automotive materials, the ACEA Regulatory List covers a broader spectrum of regulated substances. This includes items that may not be present in automotive applications but still fall under regulatory scrutiny.

Reporting Requirements

If your materials contain substances listed in the ACEA Regulatory List but are not included in GADSL, it is crucial to report these substances in your International Material Data System (IMDS) data. If a substance is absent from the IMDS Basic Substance List, you can add it using the Basic Substance Request form available in your IMDS account.

Regular Updates and Disclaimer

The ACEA Regulatory List is updated regularly to reflect changes in regulations and industry practices. However, it is important to understand that using this list does not exempt companies from their legal obligations. Always consult the most recent version of the list and seek legal advice if needed.
