In New York, the Department of Environmental Conservation proposed a new regulation on pesticides that contain Chlorpyrifos, which act as an active ingredient in the product; moderately hazardous to humans. The DEC New York accepting the public comments on this proposed regulation until April 5, 2021. To encourage this regulation among the public, New York DEC called off the 29 registered pesticides which contain chlorpyrifos on Dec 31, 2020, and they are going to cancel 15 more registered pesticides on July 31, 2021.

New York is the first state in the US nation which ban pesticides containing Chlorpyrifos and which actively participate in protecting human health and safeguards environment. The pesticides which contain chlorpyrifos shall not be sold, distributed, or used within the state of New York.

Chemical Substance Background: Chlorpyrifos is an organophosphate pesticide that acts on the nervous system of insects, helps to kill them. It is commonly used in the agricultural crop, animals to kill the number of pests, worms. Due to its acute toxicity nature, it moderately hazardous to humans and affects the mental development of infants during pregnancy.
