The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has proposed a request for Information (RFI) to collect data on the usage of fluorinated polyethylene in the Food Industry.

The main purpose of this request is to make sure FDA allows only the safe usage of certain per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in the Food Industry.

The Due date for providing the data and information has been fixed to October 18, 2022.

The RFI has been brought out following a series of tests conducted by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

The Test results highlight that PFAS can form substances (HDPE) which is the same as mosquito control pesticides.

FDA has put forth the RFI to assess the current usage as well as the manufacturing procedures of the PFAS.
