The forest of Myanmar is packed with Rare Earth Metals which are used in many electronics and electrical items in today’s world. But like DRC, here also illegal activities have started to take place which include land theft, environmental destruction, money laundering, brutal militants, etc. Myanmar’s secretive military government has also been found to be linked with these. The investigation has questioned several OEMs which are found to be sourcing rare earth metals from Myanmar and about a third of them have responded. Further investigation is going on.
