ECHA's Draft CoRAP Update for 2025-2027
The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) has released a draft update to its Community Rolling Action Plan (CoRAP) for the years 2025-2027, highlighting substances that will be evaluated for their potential impact on health and the environment. This update includes 31 substances, with 13 new entries, marking a significant shift in the agency’s chemical safety priorities.
Substances to be Evaluated: Key Highlights
The draft update outlines which substances are slated for evaluation over the next three years. The planned evaluations are divided as follows:
• Eight substances scheduled for evaluation in 2025, including two groups of substances.
• Fifteen substances targeted for evaluation in 2026.
• Five substances set for evaluation in 2027.
In addition, ECHA proposes withdrawing three substances from evaluation due to their low priority or lack of necessity for review.
Substances for 2025 Evaluation
ECHA encourages registrants to review the draft list of substances planned for 2025 and update their dossiers to include all relevant data before the March 2025 deadline. The substances under evaluation include:
• Acrylic acid, monoester with propane-1,2-diol
• Oligomerization products of beta-pinene
• Oligomerization products of alpha-pinene and beta-pinene
• Tris(2-ethylhexyl) phosphate
• Triethyl phosphate
• [3-(2,3-epoxypropoxy)propyl]dimethoxymethylsilane
• [3-(2,3-epoxypropoxy)propyl]diethoxymethylsilane
• Potassium dicyanoargentate
Next Steps: Committee Review and Adoption
The draft update will be reviewed by ECHA’s Member State Committee in February 2025. Based on the committee’s feedback, ECHA plans to officially adopt and publish the final CoRAP update on March 25, 2025.
Conclusion: Preparation for Regulatory Changes
ECHA urges companies involved with these substances to take prompt action in reviewing and updating their dossiers to ensure compliance with upcoming evaluations. The revised CoRAP is a crucial step in ensuring chemical safety within the EU, and companies should prepare for the new regulatory framework starting in 2025.
