The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) updated the Safer Chemical Ingredients List- the list of chemicals for safer functional use on August 11, 2022 The EPA has added 22 chemicals and one chemical has been dropped down from the list.
The EPA considers that the chemicals in the SCIL are the safest in functional use. The chemical dropped from the list was grey-marked earlier this year, but now due to its increasing health and environmental hazard and the inability to provide documents to justify its continuation in the SCIL was finally removed. After the update, there are 1055 chemicals enlisted in SCIL.
This enables the product manufacturers to use safer ingredients in products, improves the sustainability of the Retails, and enhances the Environment and Human Health.
