The European Commission has finally published the long-awaited list of an indicative, non-exhaustive list of Conflict-Affected High-Risk Areas under 2017/821 on 17th December 2020. The list contains the regions where a company should prioritize during the time of due diligence because of the visible Human rights issues.
The list consists of two hundred and Eight regions from twenty-seven countries which makes us understand that the commission wants the companies doing due diligence must look at this as a global issue & not an EU market requirement.
The European Commission has developed the list based on metrics that are relatable to the Conflict, government & Human rights. EU collects & monitors the data strongly to produce an overall assessment of the CAHRAs list.
