The safe drinking water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986 has updated the list by adding a few substances to it. Whenever a substance is known to the State of California to cause cancer or reproductive toxicity then it will be added to the Prop 65 list by OEHHA.
These examinations on substances were carried out by Carcinogen Identification Committee (CIC) and the Developmental and Reproductive Toxicant Identification Committee (DARTIC).
Now, these committees have confirmed that Substances such as 2-Ethylhexyl acrylate, Methyl acrylate, Perfluorooctane sulfonic acid (PFOS) and its salts and transformation and degradation precursors and Trimethylolpropane triacrylate, the technical grade could cause cancer. Hence the Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA) has added these substances to the proposition 65 lists.
