The ECHA's Committee for Risk Assessment (RAC) has agreed to hold the current classification of Glyphosate as an eye irritant and threat to aquatic life.

The committee after several types of research and risk assessments concluded that glyphosates have not met the criteria to be placed as a carcinogenic, mutagenic, or repro-toxic substance.

The RAC’s opinion is a consistent proposal of the four Member States currently assessing glyphosate namely Sweden, France, Hungary, and The Netherlands  The opinion will be sent to European Commission and European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) to carry out the risk assessment, which is targeted to be done by July 2023.

Based on the reports of the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) and EU Commission along with member states will conclude whether the approval of glyphosate can be renewed or not.
