Key Changes on IMDS

New Check for Material Data Sheets

A new verification process has been introduced to analyze Material Data Sheets (MDSs) for materials classified under 8.1 (Electronics) or 8.2 (Electrics). This check will review all levels of the MDS, not just direct references. If an MDS includes a material with one of these classifications, a warning message will be displayed.

Deactivation of Classifications 8.1 and 8.2

Classifications 8.1 and 8.2 were deactivated as part of IMDS Release 13.0 on May 19, 2021. Consequently, materials with these classifications cannot be created or released after that date.

Action Required

You may receive warning messages if your existing MDSs reference materials classified under 8.1 or 8.2. These warnings are informational, but you should investigate their sources to ensure data accuracy.
