Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) has announced a six-month extension for reporting products containing intentionally added per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) under Amara’s Law (HF 2310). The initial deadline is now July 1, 2026, delayed from January 1, 2026.

Amara’s Law, enacted in May 2023, bans PFAS in 11 product categories starting January 2025 and requires reporting of PFAS in all other consumer products sold in Minnesota. The law aims to eliminate nonessential PFAS uses by 2032.

Reason for Extension

extension addresses industry requests for more time to coordinate with suppliers and to familiarize themselves with PRISM, the upcoming PFAS Reporting and Information System of Minnesota, launching in late 2025.

Updated Timeline

Business Impact

The additional time allows manufacturers and suppliers to finalize data collection and reporting processes. Compliance remains mandatory, with annual reporting starting in 2027. Minnesota’s pragmatic delay ensures smoother adoption of new reporting requirements while keeping long-term PFAS reduction goals on track.
