As we are all aware of our environmental situation, recycling is one of the effective ways to tackle the crisis, and with that perspective, INEOS Olefins & Polymers Europe have invested in a multi-million Euro state-of-the-art technology. The investment is done on a recyclable flexible packaging film. The main aim of this investment could help to prevent 1 million tonnes of waste from being sent to landfill each year.
The technology behind this project is that using a multilayer, blown line technology with MDO( Machine Direction Orientation), the INEOS and their partners will collaborate to develop, design, and produce polyethylene and polypropylene-based flexible packaging film using fewer polymers, increasing the recyclability of the product.
This Flexible packaging film contains a low carbon solution for transporting food and other goods. For the recycling process, the usage of the number of polymers is reduced in the production of packaging film.
The only supplier who has invested in inline MDO multilayer is INEOS from Hosokawa Alpine, a pioneer in MDO technology. The new line is planned to be installed in INEOS R&D labs in Brussels, Belgium in 2023.
